Farewell to the News.

by: Michael Watkins

For 9 years, News...from our Shoes sought to provide a voice for the voiceoless, namely, the homeless of Wake County, but the time for it has now come to an end.

I tried to make it work, but always remained a "one man" show. I did have offers of help from people in the mainstream and that was always welcomed, but needed the help of those it was designed to help...the homeless.

Although, I tried to keep it afloat and people and agencies tried to partner with NFOS to make it more sustainable, it was destined to fail, as it has.

There is no more I can do to keep it going.

People and agencies can offer and give all the help they want, but until the homeless become a living part of it, it will not remain true to it's mission.

NFOS was not designed to help the mainstream...to educate and enlighten it...yes, but was largely created to help the homeless and the homeless wanted nothing to do with it.

So, in closing I would like to offer a hearty "Thank You" to all those individuals and agencies who tried to help NFOS and who believed in it.

I really appreciate all of you for all the things you did and all the services you provided, but NFOS can go on no more.

This is the end and in ending...I say

Farewell !!!!

Goodbye and thank you all.

Sicnerely,

Michael Watkins Editor News...from our Shoes
